Basic Signage Layout in the Taipei MRT
Ground Level: On roads surrounding MRT stations which are not under the jurisdiction of the MRT, MRT station signs are installed in accordance with "The Regulations for Road Traffic Signs, Markings, and Signals" issued by the Ministry of Transportation. These signs indicate the location of MRT stations. The identification of MRT station entrances is primarily indicated by the Taipei MRT logo along with signage displaying the station names and exit numbers at each entrance. For entrances equipped with elevators, accessible pathways are indicated at adjacent ramps and nearby street corners to guide passengers entering the station. For entrances without elevators, an elevator location map is provided to indicate the position of elevators at the ground level of the station. Concourse Level: In line with the spatial layout and circulation planning at stations, directional signage light boxes are installed at key points such as entrance and exit pathways to guide passengers in boarding, disembarking, and making transfers; furthermore, they also provide information about major facilities. In addition, various informational graphics are provided to offer detailed information. Platform Level The signage configuration at the platform level is primarily focused on the waiting areas, providing information such as platform numbers, train direction, and a single-line map to assist passengers in choosing the correct platform and offering detailed boarding information. Arriving passengers can identify the station name through signage on the platform and side walls of the tracks. Directional signage light boxes and informational graphics guide passengers along the exit pathways and provide detailed exit information.
