The whole Taipei MRT network can be broken down into the following three parts:
Completed MRT Routes: Completion of the initial network and substantial upgrading of service capacity.
Approved MRT Routes: Applying for additional budgets and continuing the construction of approved MRT lines.
Planned MRT Routes: Continuous planning and construction of an extended MRT network.
Completed MRT Routes
Currently 136.6 km of MRT lines have been completed for commercial service, with an average of over 2 million passenger trips per day.
Approved MRT Routes
Continuous implementation of another 26.6 km approved MRT lines that will increase network traffic to an average of 2.3 million passenger trips per day when completed.
Planned MRT Routes
Continuous planning and implementation of the full 290-km network that will carry an average of 3.6 milion passenger trips per day when completed.
